ビッグバン以降,様々な構造が形成された宇宙の中で,46億年前に誕生した太陽系において分子がどのように進化し,惑星や地球,そして生命に至ったのかという疑問への答えに近づくことをめざします.宇宙で最も大量に存在する元素(H, C, O, N)からなる氷および有機物に着目し,星間分子雲から原始惑星系までの分子進化の全体像を実験・理論・観測・分析など多様な手法で探求し,惑星系形成の物理過程の解明に化学的視点を加えることをめざします.
